Materials:
Blue multicoloured sport weight yarn (Manos Seneua colour 9753)
Light beige cotton dk weight yarn (Drops Muskat Light Beige 61)
Dark beige cotton dk weight yarn (Drops Muskat Camel 23)
Blue cotton dk weight yarn (Drops Muskat Denim 36)
4mm hook for multicoloured yarn
3.5mm hook for other yarns
Tapestry needle to weave in ends
Scissors
Stitches used (US terms):
Fdc - foundation double crochet
Dc - double crochet
Sc - single crochet
Ch - chain
Dc3tog - double crochet three together
Sk - skip
Tr - treble crochet
Crossed double crochet
Start blue multicoloured yarn and 4mm hook:
R1: Fdc x (x = width of top. This will be your waist measurement minus 1.5/2 inches).
R2: Dc, *ch 1, sk and dc in the following* repeat * to * across. (Note: if you finish on a sk just do a dc or skip two instead).
R3: Hdc across
R4: *ch4, sk 2, sl st* repeat *to* across.
Fasten off.
Using light beige yarn and 3.5mm hook:
Working on the bottom of Row 1
R5: Dc across
R6: Dc3tog, ch 2. Repeat across.
R7-8: Sc
R9: Dc3 in one stitch, sk 2. Repeat across.
Change to dark beige yarn:
R10: Dc across
Change to blue multicoloured yarn and 4mm hook:
R11: Dc across.
Repeat R11 until you reach the length you want your top minus three inches. (I did seven rows.)
R12: Dc, sk a stitch and dc in the next st. Dc in the previous skipped stitch. Repeat until one stitch left and dc in the final stitch.
R13: Sc
Change to dark beige yarn and 3.5mm hook:
R14: Tr across.
Change to blue multicoloured yarn and 4mm hook:
R15: Sc across
R16: Dc, sk a stitch and dc in the next st. Dc in the previous skipped stitch. Repeat until one stitch left and dc in the final stitch. (This is crossed double crochet stitch)
R17-22: Dc
Change to dark blue yarn and 3.5mm hook:
R23: Sc
Fasten off.
Using dark beige yarn working on the ends of your piece with 4mm hook (photo below)
R1-2: Sc
R3: Ch 3, sk 2 and sl st. Repeat across.
Repeat R1-3 on the other side, making sure you crochet the same number of stitches as the first side.
Make a chain using light beige yarn to use as the tie for the corset back.
