Percy Pig - FREE PATTERN

 


Materials: 

- Pink yarn of your choice (I used acrylic dk weight but any would work. Please note different yarn weights will create a different size final project e.g. thicker yarn will create bigger, thinner will create smaller)

- Hook size recommended for you yarn weight (I used 4mm)

- Pink yarn of the same chosen weight a few shades darker 

- Black yarn/thread for details 

- Black safety eyes (I used 9mm)

- Tapestry needle

- Stitch markers (recommended)

Head:

Stuff firmly. Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing. 


Ears (make 2):

R1: 4 sc in mc

R2: inc * 4 (8)

R3: 8 sc around (8)

R4: (1, inc) * 4 (12)

R6-9: 16 sc around (4 rnds)

Fold in half and sc 4 across through both outer sides (4 sc) *photos below, outer sides highlighted*

Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing. 





Legs (make 2):

R1: ch 9, start in 2nd ch from hook, sc 7, 3 sc in last ch 

R2: work on other side of beg ch sc 6, inc in last ch

R3-4: sc around (18)

R5: (sc 7, dec) * 2 (16)

R6: (sc 2, dec) around (12)

R7: (1 sc, inc) * 6 (18)

R8: (2 sc, inc) * 6 (24)

R9-14: sc around (5 rnds) 

Stuff the bottom of the feet firmly, leave the rest unstuffed. 

Flatten and sc 12 through both sts either side *photos below*.  Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing. 





Arms (make 2):

R1: 6 sc in mc (6)

R2: inc * 6 (12)

R3: (1, inc) * 6 (18)

R4-6: 18 sc around (3 rnds)

R7: (1, dec) * 6 (12)

R8-20: sc around (13 rnds) 

Stuff the bottom. Flatten and sc 6 in the same way you did for the legs. Fasten off and leave tail for sewing. 

Hooves (make two): 

R1: sc 6 in mc (6)

R2: inc, sc * 6 (12)

R3-5: 12 sc around (3 rnds)

Stuff and sew between round 3 and 7 of the arm facing outwards from the pig. 


Tail:

R1: ch 18, sk 2 sts and dc inc in all 16 sts across

Fasten off and leave tail for sewing


Nostrils (using darker yarn) (make 2):

R1: ch 5, sk 1, sl st, 2 sc, hdc

Fasten off and leave tail for sewing


Assembly:

Sew ears on head from rnd 6 to 8. 

Sew snout 1 stitch below eyes with bottom of the snout sewn to rnd 29.

Sew the head to the body. 

Sew the arms either side of the head across 6 sts. 

Sew the legs with one side starting at rnd 6 and other side finishing at rnd 12 of the bottom body.

Sew the nostrils two rnds from the centre of the snout. 

See the tail between rnds 13 and 14.


Details: 

With black yarn/ thread, stitch around the two nostrils. 

For the eyebrows, sew diagonally across two sts 5 sts above the eyes. 

Start to sew the mouth three sts away from the snout in the middle of the top and bottom of the snout. Sew in a curved line close to the snout. Add two horizontal stitches at the top of the mouth either side.
